The primary responsibility of this role is to provide legal counsel and expertise on urban planning, zoning regulations, land use issues, and development projects. Responsabilities: Legal Consultation: Provide legal advice and guidance to clients, developers, government agencies, and community groups on matters related to urban planning, zoning ordinances, land use regulations, and development approvals. Due Diligence: Conduct thorough reviews and analysis of proposed development projects, land transactions, zoning changes, and regulatory compliance to identify legal risks, liabilities, and opportunities. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that development projects comply with applicable local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and environmental standards governing land use, building codes, historic preservation, and infrastructure requirements. Negotiation and Mediation: Negotiate agreements, permits, easements, and mitigation measures with regulatory authorities, stakeholders, and affected parties to resolve conflicts, address concerns, and achieve consensus on urban development issues. Litigation Support: Represent clients in administrative hearings, zoning appeals, land use disputes, and legal proceedings before municipal boards, planning commissions, and courts to protect their interests and uphold their rights under urbanism laws. Policy Advocacy: Advocate for policy reforms, smart growth initiatives, and sustainable development strategies that promote equitable access to housing, transportation, public amenities, and green spaces within urban communities. Requirements: Law degree from a Portuguese University and active membership from the Portuguese bar association. Specialization or relevant course work in urban planning law, land use regulation, environmental law, or real estate development. Proven experience as a practicing attorney with a focus on urbanism, land use, or municipal law, preferably in a law firm, government agency, or advocacy organization
