Position Summary World Monuments Fund (WMF) is seeking a qualified professional for the role of Senior Director, Individual Giving and Development Operations to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented Development Department. Reporting to the Vice President of Development and Partnerships, the Senior Director helps drive, implement, and report on individual fundraising strategy. They will oversee a growing team of four staff responsible for WMF's individual giving program and development operations. The Senior Director will be responsible for reinforcing and growing a robust individual donor pipeline, capable of reliably meeting an annual goal of $5M+ and ensuring The Raiser's Edge database is effectively leveraged in donor management. Additionally, the Senior Director will play an integral role in the launch of an endowment campaign. The successful candidate will be a creative, collaborative, energetic, pro-active individual with excellent organizational and communication skills.
This is a full-time, exempt position based at WMF's global headquarters in New York. II. Responsibilities  Lead a high-performing team of at least four staff towards an annual goal of more than $5M, in addition to supporting the fundraising efforts for a $60M+ endowment campaign, providing mentorship and support to achieve annual and campaign objectives. Manage a portfolio of at least 50 major gift donors and prospects. Design and execute a comprehensive strategy for individual giving, aligning with broader organizational goals and fundraising priorities. Work closely with the VP of Development and Partnerships to manage the early stages of an endowment campaign, including oversight and coordination of the campaign's pipeline, collateral, volunteer body, and overall strategy. Oversee the operational aspects of the development team, including database management, prospect research, moves management, and stewardship; ensure operations support both institutional and individual giving teams. Oversee ongoing direct mail, membership ($5,000+), planned giving, and donor travel programs. Work closely with the individual giving team to design a donor stewardship program that motivates renewed and upgraded individual giving. Work closely with the Vice President of Development and Partnerships to monitor individual giving fundraising performance and progress of revenue and expenses to meet budget and inform fundraising strategy. Create detailed reports and analyses on fundraising performance, informing decision-making, and optimizing fundraising efforts. Design (and/or improve) systems that advance fundraising planning and efficiency. Collaborate cross-functionally with institutional and special events teams, as well as other WMF departments to ensure alignment of individual giving strategies and processes with broader organizational objectives. Maintain strong relationships – with an emphasis on collaboration – within the Development team, as well as with colleagues in other departments and affiliate offices. III. Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (preferred major in Art History, Archaeology, Anthropology, English, History, or International Affairs)8+ years of experience in progressively senior development roles, arts and culture sectors preferred but not necessary. Demonstrated success in building and mentoring teams in a highly collaborative, positive environment capable of achieving ambitious annual goals. Campaign management experience strongly preferred. SKILLS Exceptional oral and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with funders and board members and work well with staff at all levels Excellent presentation skills and the ability to communicate Computer fluency in Microsoft environment (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) Donor database expertise, preferably with Raiser's Edge, and online marketing software preferred. Highly organized and detail oriented with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects and meet deadlines in fast-paced environment Ability to work gracefully under pressure Ability to work occasional nights and weekends, with some domestic and international travel, as needed IV. V. Compensation and Benefits The World Monuments Fund offers a comprehensive and highly competitive compensation and benefits package, including paid time off, wellness and sick time off, holiday time off, and a multitude of other insurance benefits such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and a fully comprehensive retirement plan.
