Launch Vehicle - Senior Design Engineer (Portugal)

Our client is an established space technology company that combines agility, speed and innovation with decades of
experience and proven quality. Their headquarters are in Switzerland and they have several international locations
throughout Europe and the USA.
The company is an internationally preferred supplier of structures for all types of launch vehicles and a leader in
selected satellite products and for constellations in the New Space sector. They complement their space business as a
leader in high-precision products within the semiconductor industry.
We are looking for a Design Engineer to join the recently inaugurated Hub in Portugal, contributing to the development and design of composite and metallic structures for the Launcher product unit.
Location: Lisbon, Portugal

Accountabilities:
The following in bold are considered critical:
Create the technical documentation (assembly plan, single parts and assembly drawings, parts lists and
specifications, test samples) utilizing CAD, SAP and PC applications;
Coordinate between disciplines in close collaboration with Systems Engineering, Analysis and Project
Management;
Evaluate proposed changes, and establish change requests;
Assess NCs and support the error-handling process;
Design with process/manufacturing optimization in mind;
Create draft concepts and concept studies according to specifications;
Manage and coordinate design project teams (Design Task Manager);
Manage and coordinate design tasks for work packages or projects;
Support on-boarding of new employees;
Create proposal bids and presentation documents;
Incorporate and develop advanced concepts, technologies and materials in collaboration with the technology
group, manufacturing and Jigs&Tools design;
Lead and execute detailed designs (create fully elaborated assembly designs);
Coordinate with other designers assigned to the project;

Perception of self-control in the context of inputs, especially when submitting mandatory parts model data
files;
Provide the work status to the line manager and project members regularly;
Evaluate and document Design Team specific processes and contribute to continuous improvement;
Carry out administrative tasks related to release and change management;
Support of system engineering, manufacturing, testing and Product Assurance with design expertise;
Driven, analytical and structured;
Openminded and curious to new ideas, challenging old methods, continuously working with improvements,
pro-active and solution-oriented.
You will work closely with your colleagues in Design, Systems Engineering, Verification & Test, Quality, Project Management, and broadly across the company linked to ongoing projects. It´s expected that you can also collaborate with other company sites.
Requirements & Qualifications:
Design apprentice/education in mechanical/aerospace engineering with 8+ years' experience;
Experience with aircraft and/or spacecraft design (composite design is a must).
Languages
German;
Swedish.

Catia V5 (mandatory);
SAP;
Technical Competences
