They analyse customer's needs, requirements, and products' application conditions, in order to specify the adequate hardware platform on which the system should run to achieve the best performance. They define the redundancy and high availability mechanisms that will provide the system with adequate reliability and resilience. They prepare the automatic deployment mechanisms to easily configure the equipment that will be delivered to the customer. The Platform Engineer configures and fine-tunes the underlaying Linux OS, hardens the system, carries out vulnerability analysis and manages security patching in such a critical infrastructure.
