About the role: We're looking for a talented and experienced Lead Ruby on Rails Developer to join our European team. As a Lead Developer, you'll play a crucial role in driving the technical direction and success of our projects - with a focus on our current platform integration. You'll get to utilize your Ruby on Rails, systems architecture & design expertise and first-rate leadership skills in this role. They'll be instrumental in building the team, guiding and mentoring developers while ensuring the delivery of high-quality code and solutions. The ultimate goal is to make the CHL platform performant, secure and a pleasure to use for all clients!
TasksYour mission: Driving our current integration project (building features from a Golang platform into an existing RoR platform) which has a high impact on the successful integration of two companiesCo-driving technical direction and decision-making process, ensuring alignment with our overall business objectives - together with your counterpart based in AustraliaBreaking down requirements in accordance with platform architecture and develop robust and scalable Ruby on Rails applications, adhering to best practices and coding standardsDeveloping new features in collaboration with our product management, UX, front-end, QA and mobile teamsWrite self-documented domain-driven, clean code and evolve existing codebaseBuild a small team of RoR devs, mentor and provide guidance to junior developers, promoting their growth and professional development.Lead by example: manage a team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environmentCollaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and QA engineers, to deliver exceptional resultsStay updated with the latest trends and advancements in Ruby on Rails development, bringing innovative ideas and solutions to the tableRequirementsWhat we're looking for: Proficiency in Ruby on Rails development (min. 5 years) with a proven track record of delivering successful web applications and experience with Ruby on Rails monolithsStrong technical leadership skills, working both independently and as part of a team, managing projects and driving technical decisionsStrong understanding of web development principles, object-oriented programming, and design patternsKnow how to contribute in remote cross-functional teams, able to prioritize and have good time management skills, comfortable pair programmingExperience with cloud infrastructure and API-driven applicationsGood understanding of relational databases, comfortable in PSQL or similarExperience building, leading and managing a team of developers, fostering a positive and inclusive work cultureKnowledge of front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and the ability to collaborate effectively with front-end developers (up to contribute to a rails frontend in exceptional cases)Familiarity with agile development methodologies and toolsIdeally experience with Docker, OpenSearch or ElasticSearch, and AWS or GCP infrastructureExcellent problem-solving skills and keen attention to detailEffective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersGood English to collaborate with an international, multilingual teamIdeally, the person in this role will be based in Portugal (office in Lisbon) but we are also open to candidates who are located in Spain, UK or GermanyBenefitsWhat's in for you: Work in a fast-growing, ASX-listed global company Growth and progressionMobility programWork on international projects with impactCompetitive remuneration package including Employee Share SchemeEmployee recognition and reward programsVan hire and product discountsFlexible working arrangements The opportunity to work with a global team of creative go-getters who are passionate about promoting 1000's of vans and endless adventures!Diversity is key at CHL - we believe that the best ideas come from the diverse cultures of our team.
