Your responsibilitiesThe HSE Specialist duties and responsibilities will include evaluation and implementation of a comprehensive range of health, safety and environment programs and services to meet the goals and legal obligations of Olympus.
Your Responsibilities:
Implement, coordinate, evaluate and update Olympus's health, safety and environment policies, procedures and programs;Develop annual health, safety and environment plans for the company based on a thorough review of needs related to health, safety and environment, hazard assessment, environment impacts assessment, database analysis, audits, change of legislation and best practices as required by law;Identify predictable risks and possible environment impacts in the design of facilities, in workplaces and work processes, by combating them at source, in order to guarantee an effective level of protection;Integrate risk assessment into all company activities with the adoption of prevention measures;Ensure the environment impacts assessment;Ensure the management and control of the environment impacts;Ensure that all legally mandatory health, safety and environmental monitoring are carried out;Ensure that chemical, physical and biological agents in the workplace do not pose a risk to workers or to the environment;Plan prevention in the company in a coherent system, considering the technical component, work organization, social relations and the material factors inherent to work;Ensure adequate monitoring of workers' health according to workplace hazards;Establish, in the field of first aid, firefighting and evacuation of workers, the measures to be taken and the identification of the workers responsible for their application, as well as to ensure contacts with outside entities and competent to carry out those operations and medical emergency;Collaborate with Human Resources and managers / supervisors to assist in facilitating temporary return programs for work programs;Investigate incidents fully and effectively, and respond appropriately as necessary, including communication, training and follow-up with supervisors and staff and respective record;Participate and collaborate with health, safety and environment activities in the construction area, as required;Ensure the preparation and submission of the HS annual report and management review according to the standards requirements (ex: ISO14001);Develop, organize and present safety and environment guidance and training to all employees and visitors to ensure a complete and effective understanding of the potential risks and expected behaviors within the company;Define and improve/ actualize rules and good practices to visitors and suppliers, and cooperate with FM and other areas to ensure the communication of rules and good practices and that those are fully understood and implemented;Take measures and give instructions that allow workers, in case of a serious and imminent danger that cannot be avoided, to cease their activity or to leave their place of work, without being able to resume their activity when this danger persists;Perform Audits in the health, safety and environment scope, whenever it deems necessary;Correct and efficient management of the resources in his responsibility, ensuring the compliance with good environmental practices and H&S rules and the correct action in case of emergency (environmental or H&S).
Education / qualifications:
Degree in Engineering or Management;Certificate for the exercise of the activity issued by a certified entity;
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years' manufacturing and/or industrial experience in a dedicated health, safety and environment management role (HSE Senior specialist).Training in Emergency Plans;Demonstrated ability to successfully develop and implement safety and environment management programs and policies within a company under rapid growth with respect of Portugal law;Specific skills:
In permanent collaboration with HR Manager must have excellent communication skills for liaising and communicating with internal departments;Ability to support managers with their safety and environment responsibilities and to develop innovative solutions that will impact behavior and continually draw focus on personal safety and environment protection as being the top operating priority;Capacity to be steadfast and observing and making observe the health, safety and environment policy;
