The HV Engineer will also serve, in conjunction with other High Voltage Operations staff and the Electrical Engineers in Houston, as the Company's subject matter expert on essentially all HV issues.Main responsibilities:Provide electrical, high-voltage, collection system, and substation support to operating renewable generation facilities which includes intermittent on-call supportParticipate in the engineering, design, and construction review processes including review of collection system, substation, and transmission line designsSupport new project commissioning, documentation support, and assist with project energizationReview and continuously improve commissioning, maintenance, and standard operating proceduresReview maintenance records and recommend corrective actions to ensure reliability and compliance with the applicable NERC standardsDevelop, review, and maintain work instructions for reactive and preventive maintenance activitiesDevelop and maintain electrical troubleshooting guides for intelligent electronic device (IED) trainingConduct event analysis of protection system operations to determine misoperation status in support of meeting FERC or NERC requirements. This includes the development, testing, and implementation of corrective operational plans for protection system misoperationsDevelop and submit NERC MIDAS reportsDevelop structured feedback sessions for all lessons learned with project team to include misoperations, root cause analysis, and safety related eventsReview and maintain IED settings repositoryReview and update project documentationResponsible to for maintaining compliance of NERC standards PRC-027 and validating and/or updating arc flash studiesDevelop and implement site betterment projects including preparation of scope documents, exhibits, budgets, schedules, and requests for proposalsInteract closely with internal teams to ensure that project needs and objectives are metLead or participate to project meetings and conference callsEvaluate and provide feedback on project plans, specifications, drawings, and documentation pertaining to renewable energy generation facilities.Participate in due- diligence review of renewable generation facility electrical designsAssist with updating of project documents that are NERC-related and act as subject matter expert during internal and external auditsPerform additional duties as requiredEmployment typeFull TimeWork siteHybridWhat Are We Looking ForMinimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent combination of training andExperience5+ years of relevant technical experienceExpert knowledge of medium- and high-voltage substation electrical equipment including relay protection systems, collection systems, transmission designs, and operationsExperience with power generation or distribution event analysis preferredExperience with establishing HV field service preferredProficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, Project software suites, and SEL EquipmentExperience with substation relay and protection system testing and troubleshootingExperience with LOTO and OTO proceduresFamiliarity with the operation of capacitor banks, transformer load tap changers, circuit breakers, and motor/manually operated air disconnect switchesUnderstanding of Microsoft products and/or complementing products. (Preferred)Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, And Technology Expertise. (Preferred).Travel: 25%Behavioral Requirements:Ability to write operating procedures and strong problem-solving abilityAbility to apply pertinent industry standards and codes including Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE), National Electric Safety Code (NESC), and ANSI (American National Standards Institute)Ability to operate a motor vehicle and possession of a valid driver's licenseAbility to be self-motivated and work with minimal supervisionAbility to multi-task in a complex and dynamic environmentAbility to perform basic electrical mathematical calculationsAbility to read and understand plans, specifications, drawings, and documents relating to engineering and construction including one-line, three-line, schematics, and wiring diagramsWillingness and ability to travel at least 25% of the timeAbility and willingness to respond to site emergencies as needed Physical demands & working conditions:Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to frequently perform physical tasks including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching approximately 75% of the time while on renewable power plants' sites.
