We are seeking self-motivated individuals who enjoy preparing and serving meals to join our team at the North Dakota Veterans Home as a Cook. The positions available are: FTE (36 hrs/weekly) positions that will work 3 12-hour day shifts per week with every 3rd weekend and holiday. FTE position that will work 2-3 12-hour day shifts per week with every 3rd weekend and holiday. FTE position that works 5 8-hour shifts per week Monday - Friday in our main kitchenSummary of Work Cook and prepare food following standardized recipes and using proper food handling techniques. Review and know resident diets including texture modification if necessary. Serve snacks in between meals, help keep resident water glasses filled with fresh water. Keep households stocked by ordering groceries from the main kitchen, stocking fridges and pantries using the FIFO method. Monitor stock for outdated products and discard as needed. Clean the kitchen area including stoves, ovens, microwaves, hoods, and all other cooking appliances. This also includes washing pots and pans, cleaning floors, deliming dish washer, washing counters and taking out the garbage. Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
