About the role Our Global Procurement Packaging team, composed of 5 people, is integrated in the European Inland Logistics department, covering strategic and tactical categories.As a Category Packaging Buyer, you will be in charge of managing a procurement packaging portfolio, conducting negotiations, and implementing contracts within corporate procurement guidelines across multiple sites and Global Business Units in the EMEA region.This opportunity will allow you to be a constructive problem solver who will work daily with global Procurement colleagues, regional Supply Chain teams, and other internal stakeholders across multiple sites and Global Business Units to improve procurement performance and roll out negotiated contracts.You will be accountable for:Business partneringCollect, research, and analyze the packaging material demands and needs and integrate them into Category Strategies and projects.Coordinate and lead internal project teams to ensure the timely completion of goals and sourcing strategies.We offer a permanent contract based on a hybrid working mode.Strategic planningFollow market trends and become a market expert for the packaging categories within your portfolio.Stay current on information regarding key suppliers and competitors.Drive the creation, development, and integration of Category Strategies.Identify and develop strategies with appropriate Global Business Units to design effective collaborative or commercial savings projects in spending areas of responsibility.Employ and foster growth in the use of e-toolsContract negotiations and managementDevelop RFQs/RFPs and initiate sourcing strategies based on results of market analysis, emerging trends, and proven technologies all in line with the various business objectives of Solvay.Support and lead major negotiations of packaging materials purchase by consolidating supplier base, rationalization, and optimization of packaging material specification.Responsible for the contracts that bring the most competitive and sustainable conditions as well as added value to Solvay.We offer a permanent contract based on a hybrid working mode.About you Relevant education degree or equivalent in Procurement, Business, Finance, Economics, or Supply Chain.Relevant work experience in:Procurement related to purchasing various packaging commodities (i.e. IBC, FIBC, Drums, etc.), preferably in the chemical or similar industry.Fluency in English is mandatory. Any other language is a plus.Knowledge of current and leading-edge technologies in packaging design, supply chain, Procurement, and e-Business tools.Knowledge of pertinent national and international packaging regulations and certifications (UN & DOT).Strong business/commercial experience in conducting negotiations, maintaining good business relationships, and establishing strategic alliances.Broad-based understanding and experience negotiating contracts for packaging.Behaviors:Ability to multitask, change gears quickly, analyze, assess, and make appropriate recommendations.Ability to demonstrate a consistent approach to working with others and have a high degree of honesty, integrity, and ethics.About the pay and benefits Attractive and equitable pay for all: compensation is determined within a range to foster your development in the role. While the Portuguese base pay reasonably expected for this role is 31,000.00€ to 51,000.00€, your salary may, ultimately, be higher or lower based on your skills and experience.
