You will be headquartered in Lisbon, Portugal, and work with an engaged and multicultural team of passionate individuals to deliver on our global mandate.AN INTRODUCTION TO KAICIIDThe International Dialogue Centre (KAICIID) is a unique International Organization which brings together religious leaders, policymakers, and experts with the aim of finding common solutions to shared problems. Our vision is a world where there is respect, understanding, and cooperation among people, justice, peace and reconciliation, and an end to the abuse of religion to justify oppression, violence, and conflict.KAICIID aims to create a more peaceful world by promoting dialogue and supporting religious leaders and communities in tackling our most pressing problems. We do this through education and training, convening religious leaders and policymakers, and carrying out research to encourage and enhance interreligious and intercultural dialogue. We work with our partners to build their capacities, connections, and confidence.Our work focuses on four pressing and linked issues that challenge humanity: violent conflict; migration; the climate emergency, and social cohesion. We bring together religious leaders with policymakers to find constructive ways to address these issues through dialogue. Our work respects and values the differences between faiths and cultures but promotes the idea that we share a common humanity and a collective need to address these problems. Through all our work run three threads: youth engagement, gender, and policy development.YOUR TEAMThe Executive Office of the Secretary General is the immediate structure supporting the KAICIID Secretary General. The Office is tasked with the overall leadership of KAICIID and for ensuring that the Centre delivers on its mandate vis-à-vis the Council of Parties and the Board of Directors.YOUR ROLEUnder the overall supervision of the Chief of Staff and Counsellor and the direct technical guidance of the Chief Financial Officer, the incumbent is working in the preparation of the Centre's annual Programme and Budget and financial statements, for performing the treasury functions, and reconciliation of accounts, ensuring that proper internal controls are in place.YOUR RESPONSIBILITIESBudget:Assists the CFO in overseeing the operations of the Budget functions;Assists in the preparation of theCentre's yearly Programme and Budget;Reviews and analyses the cost estimates and budget proposals;Assists in managing and monitoring budget implementation and recommends reallocation of funds as necessary;Assists in the preparation of supporting documents (narrative and financial tables) with respect to finalization of cost estimates and budget proposals;Extracts information and generates expenditure reports from the ERP system; assists in preliminary analyses of the extracted information and the reports generated, and highlights areas of concern;Researches/compiles data and other information required by the Budget and Finance Section in the review and analysis of relevant proposals;Consolidates data and provides support with respect to budget reviews of relevant Cost Centres.Treasury / Banking / Tax Authorities:Assists in monitoring the cash position of the Centre;Assists in reconciling the cash position on the statements on a monthly basis;Assists in the bank and accounts reconciliation and closure of accounts at the end of the financial year;In coordination with CFO, undertakes research and analysis of policies and procedures and where necessary makes recommendations for changes for improving efficiencies;Reviews the Cash Advance requests and ensures that cash advance expenditures are in line with the policy and that expenditures are recorded accordingly;Files paperwork and liaises with the Tax Authorities of the countries in which KAICIID is entitled to Tax Refunds; and liaises and follows up with Tax Authorities in instances where there are delays or errors.Payments / Disbursements:Assists in the timely processing of payments, including the monthly payroll, in the financial database and ensures no double payments after having verified the accuracy of the completed claims and supporting documents;Follows up on the collection of revenue and recovery of receivables;Manages petty-cash processing for the Centre in accordance with KAICIID Payments Policy;Answers queries from vendors as well as internal queries related to payments;Approves the establishment of vendors/suppliers in the ERP System following the principles laid out in the Policy on Recording of Suppliers;In close coordination with the CFO, ensures obligations are recorded and expenditures are charged against appropriate budget codes;Matches payments against established obligations in accordance with the Policy on Obligations;Processes Travel Claims in accordance with KAICIID Travel Policy; verifies the accuracy of completed claims and supporting documents; ensures that the balance of travel advances in excess of the amount of the travel claim is recovered;Ensures compliance with Financial Regulations and Rules and all financial and accounting policies and procedures;Undertakes any other assignments required.OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE BRINGSAdvanced university degree in Finance, Accounting or a similar field. An internationally recognized qualification such as a Chartered Accountant (ACCA, CPA) or Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) is highly desirable;A minimum of 3 years' relevant experience in the field of financial management, budget planning and accounting, preferably in a non-profit sector, particularly within in an inter-governmental organization such as the UN;Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, preferably UBW, is required;Proficiency in Microsoft Excel;Experience in developing and implementing accounting and financial rules and procedures in a United Nations (UN) system organization is an advantage;Experience in maintaining relationships with key external stakeholders such as delegations of Member States, donors or investors is an advantage;Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicateeffectively in a multi-cultural environment;Flexible work attitude andability to work wellunder pressureand meet unexpected demands;Proven analytical and organizational skills, ability to think creatively;Ability to build constructive working relationships and partnerships within and outside the Centre, at all levels, in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment, with sensitivity and respect for diversity.LANGUAGESEnglish proficiency (written and spoken). Knowledge of any other major language is desirable.TERMS OF APPOINTMENTKAICIID offers fixed-term contracts of one year with a possibility of extension, subject to satisfactory performance and the continuing need for the position. The monthly salary for this role is EUR 4,328 (Grade 6, Step 1) and is exempt from income tax in Portugal. Other benefits for eligible staff members who are not nationals or permanent residents of the country of the duty station include housing allowance, education allowance, relocation allowance, home leave travel and private health insurance.
