BNPP Global Markets Americas is looking to expand its team of dedicated data engineers in Portugal to support the Prime Solutions & Financing (PS&F) Global Business Line (GBL). Designed to become a leading multi-asset execution, clearing and financing powerhouse, the Prime Solutions & Financing GBL includes all Prime Brokerage, Securities Lending, Funding, Derivatives Clearing and agency execution activities of Global Markets, across asset classes.
The team in Portugal works closely with PS&F Prime Trading Americas. This team is focused on generating business analytics, building data pipelines, and projects implementation to better position the business for their current and future needs. A primary focus of the role is assisting in the improvement of funding efficiencies and meeting client demand through improved data availability and analysis, client insights, and ultimately through enhanced data and business processes. The ability to work with large amount of messy data and designing and then implementing improved data models will be important. A successful candidate should have strong communication skills, be a team player, have the ability to learn quickly, and focus on delivery in a fast-paced environment. The job will require interaction with Front Office, Technology, and Product Development.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform analyses of diverse datasets and turn them into actionable information for the business
Creation and maintenance of ETL processes
Drive the development of common tools and libraries to enable analytics by broader set of users
Drive the buildout of strategic datasets
Assist in the digitization of terms from client contracts
Assist / support all the automation projects managed by the desk
Assist with production of reporting (report generation, data issue, IT management)
Ability to work New York (Eastern Time Zone) hours as needed to support communication and collaboration with team, at least several days a week (alternative shift pattern 11.00 to 20.00 or 12.00 to 21.00)
Ability to travel to New York for a period of up to 1 month for on-desk experience and training
Academic background in a quantitative discipline, such as Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Finance or Economics
1-4 years of relevant experience such as in Data Analytics or Engineering
Fluency in English
Excellent knowledge of MS Office suite
Experience with Python with a focus on data analytics or engineering
Other programming skills such as SQL or VBA
Experience using Dev-ops tools such as GIT, Jira and APIs
Linux or Windows server maintenance
Database administration and development
Data engineering or Business Intelligence fields with concentration on data transformation and ETL
Must be comfortable manipulating and working with large data sets
Quantitative, analytical and logical problem solving skill
Very strong attention to detail
Experience in Capital Markets or Investment Banking is a plus
Knowledge of the Prime Brokerage and securities lending business
Knowledge of Securities Financing transactions (stock loan, equity swaps, etc.)
Experience with current regulatory framework (leverage exposure and liquidity measures)
