MadoquaPower2X and MadoquaIPP are seeking an experienced Portfolio Manager – Energy to take ownership of power market intelligence and energy management for its 1.2 GW electrolysis project in Portugal. The role involves setting structured energy management mandates and setting up and managing their execution via a market access partner. The ideal candidate will combine deep power market expertise with strong commercial acumen and experience with managing energy portfolios for highest tier power consumers.
Key Responsibilities: Analyze Iberian power markets (spot, forward, balancing, ancillary services) and identify revenue optimization opportunities. Design, develop, and manage energy management strategies aligned with the project's offtake needs and risk profile. Set mandates and risk limits for external trading partners executing transactions on behalf of the project. Monitor portfolio performance, ensure compliance with mandates, and provide continuous reporting to senior stakeholders. Form partnerships with trading partners to execute trading mandates Coordinate closely with regulatory, finance, and operations teams to align power sales with broader project objectives. Support long-term hedging strategy and potential route-to-market. Required Experience & Capabilities: 5+ years in energy portfolio management, energy trading and risk management, or structured origination with a focus on Iberian or European power markets. Proven experience designing and managing market exposure strategies (primarily through power forwards, day-ahead - secondly intraday, balancing). Strong understanding of the interface between physical assets and financial power products. Experience working with managing third-party trading mandates. Experience with large scale energy consumers with operational flexibility is an advantage. Excellent quantitative and analytical skills; proficiency with Excel, Python or energy analytics tools is a benefit.
