Reporting to the Process Manager (Sidul), the Process Engineer is accountable for the optimization and technical improvement of the refinery process. Needs to identify and manage medium sized projects and to work as part of a larger project team. Acts as Process Manager position deputy when required.
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in managing Safety, Hygiene, Environment and Quality consistent with the Sidul policies to achieve continuous improvement: keep SOP’s and GMP’s updated and ensure compliance; ensure technical focus is consistent for regulatory compliance.
Develop systems to measure key plant technical performance and output quality standards.
Assist on control measures to reduce the risk of intentional contamination of Sidul products – food defence.
Proactive and committed to continuous improvement by supporting all related activities in raw sugar shed & process operations.
Develop, maintain and review appropriate service level relationships with support services e.g. Utilities, Maintenance and Purchasing.
Identify projects to enhance safety, de-bottleneck and improve technical performance / reduce costs.
Assist in co-ordinating problem solving effort requiring technical input.
Anticipate raw sugar quality related problems and reduce their impact.
Control and optimize recovery, physical and chemical sugar losses, and minimize product recycle and reprocessing costs.
Contribute to maintenance plans, assisting in the prioritisation of work to maximise benefit.
Provide guidance to the Shift Managers on the most appropriate ways to react to particular process issues.
Develop systems to monitor plant performance and write/update process narratives for control systems.
Work as process engineer on projects providing a liaison between the project team and production, when requested.
Update and develop key documentation including process models, P&ID’s, and all process procedures for sustaining the knowledge.
Monitor and improve raw sugar unloading operations in the plant with the aim of avoiding demurrage and maximize dispatch.
To keep incrementing the sugar knowledge in a way of developing value added products.
Train operations teams.
Comply with all the standards, policies and requirements of Quality, Food Safety and Food Defense.

Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office (PPT, Excel, Word) and SAP.
Fluent in English.
Availability to travel abroad.
ESSENTIAL WORK EXPERIENCES
Experience in a large food processing or similar manufacturing operation.
Experience in process modelling and optimization via use of energy and mass balances.
Experience in managing aspects of Safety, Hygiene, Environment and Quality (IFS, ISO 9001 & HACCP).
Experience in lab activities.
Change management implementation.
Experience/Knowledge in Continuous Improvement tools (preferable)
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Degree in Engineering: Chemical (preferable), Mechanical, Industrial Management or Food.
