ROLE SUMMARY:St. Peter's International School is an international school located in Palmela, just south of Lisbon. At St. Peter's International School, we believe in the limitless potential of every student. Rooted in the principles of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, our approach integrates rigorous academics with- based learning, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and cultural understanding. The international section of school which offers the Cambridge Primary, Lower Secondary and IGCSE Programmes as well as the IB Diploma Programme is experiencing remarkable growth, with the number of students set to rise to the 300 mark. With this in mind, we are now looking to recruit aHead of International / IB Coordinator. Candidates must hold an advanced degree in education and be able to demonstrate significant leadership experience in an International school environment, ideally with direct experience of both Cambridge and International Baccalaureate Programmes. Priority will be given to those applicants in possession of an EU Passport or working rights to Portugal already in place. The role provides a competitive salary, relocation assistance and assisted school places for dependent children where applicable. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:• Working closely and collaboratively with the Executive Head and Senior Management Team to implement the School's educational strategy and policies• Working collaboratively with the Head of Admissions on the admission and induction of new pupils into the International Section, including oversight and development of Admissions Tests• Leading the review and implementation of teaching & learning policies• Responsibility for the alignment between the Cambridge IGCSE and the IBDP• Ensure the successful implementation and oversight of the IB CAS program. • Developing the International curriculum in collaboration with Senior colleagues across the whole school• Overseeing the professional development and performance management processes for International Section teaching staff• Ensuring the academic development of the School and-- year improvement of educational standards, including target setting for IB DP and IGCSE examinations• Evaluating and reporting on the possible expansion of the International Section to include Cambridge Primary• Ensuring a high standard academic programme by working directly with all departments and teachers• Overseeing and improving systems related to tracking student progress, to evaluate student progression and act upon the results guaranteeing each student achieves their best, using benchmarks and setting targets for improvement• Ensuring a culture and ethos of challenge, accountability and support where all students become engaged in their own learning• Ensuring parents and students are well informed about school activities, the curriculum, attainment and progress, and the contribution that they can make to achieve the School's targets for improvementTHE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:• An understanding of local culture and experience of working in international schools• Some knowledge of the local curriculum• An advanced degree in education and extensive teaching experience• A strong understanding of educational standards, policies and assessment frameworks• Visionary leadership and strong- making skills whilst fostering a positive school culture• The ability to lead and collaborate effectively with stakeholders to achieve school objectives whilst promoting the school mission, values and ethos• An- door policy, creating a transparent and approachable leadership style• Active involvement with students and staff, participation in daily school activities and direct involvement in problem solving• Excellent subject knowledge, ensuring good progress for all students. • A vision for what outstanding teaching and learning looks like. • Genuine care and attention for the highest standards of student welfare. • A continuous improvement mindset.
