The Europe, Middle East and North Africa (EMENA) Technical Staff (TS) team is part of the post-sales organisation within the EMENA Sales organisation. This team is responsible for designing and guiding the technical implementation of government and commercial communications system solutions, leveraging new technologies and approaches sourced from both inside and outside of Motorola Solutions. Typical systems and products include Communications Control Centers, Wireless Data and Voice Systems, Signalling and Remote Control Systems, Broadband Wireless Systems, and Public Safety Applications. The EMENA TS team is responsible for the design, implementation & test of communication system/ service solutions that meet our customer's requirements, from the conceptual phases through to handover into operation. In co-operation with the key stakeholders (Pre-Sales, Project Management and our partners) the TS team develops technical strategies and delivers Motorola's system solutions. The TS team continuously strive for right first time execution, enabling the flexibility to adapt to the changing market place, and optimizing our effectiveness. The organisation structure in the team enables accountability, focus, and decision making with efficient region wide sharing of our Technical resources. Maintaining a balance between Customer, Business & People drives improved efficiency, costs & ultimately our competitive advantage. Furthermore the team undertakes to support colleagues to enhance both individual and group competencies. Job Description Main Purpose of the Job: The Graduate System Engineer role will form part of multi-disciplined project teams to design and deliver complex mission critical voice and data systems. The systems may be used directly by our customers or by Motorola Solutions to deliver Managed Services to our customers. The System Engineer will work in the post sales phases of projects and may support multiple projects in parallel depending on size and complexity. There may also be a requirement to provide support to pre-sales activities. The System Engineer role can operate at different levels within the organisation and/or projects. The level of the role will be determined by the size and complexity of the project or activity as well as the level of the individual within the EMENA Technical Staff organisation. The System Engineering role can be fulfilled at any level within the TS career ladder, however, engineering staff at a lower levels will focus on smaller projects or elements of larger projects. Main duties: Support detailed design to refine and develop communication system solutions and services which satisfy the requirements of the customer, end users and operator Undertake the generation of system documentation and equipment lists using relevant tools and processes. Input to presentations of technical solutions and services to customers, project teams and management. Work with project teams to help drive progress and meet milestones. Reporting Structure All Technical Staff report on a solid line basis to their Regional Engineering Lead. When major project teams are established project team members will report on a dotted line basis to the appointed project team leader to reflect the implementation of these teams but still retain a solid line reporting at a functional level. Basic Requirements Qualifications: Degree in electrical engineering gained through a recognized period of study at University, or equivalent education or experience in electrical/electronic engineering. Skills: Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook. Excellent organisational and prioritization skills, good communication skills, both written and oral. Mature, credible, and comfortable in dealing with customers. Well-presented and business-like. Sufficiently mobile and flexible, travel across the EMENA region. Keen for new experience, responsibility and accountability. Able to get on with others and be a team player. Communication and presentations skills. Negotiation - how to get to a ‘win - win’. Creative thinking. Analytical approach. Problem solving.
